Satori

Satori is a term from Buddhism meaning enlightenment/ understanding as the director of the movie Abhilasha Dewan says. He told us a complete short story from beginning till end in 2 minutes that guide us to a moral conclusion ....crime does not pay. The movie was inspired by the misty mountains of Nainital, India, and it is the final thesis film at Sheridan College.
I loved the story, the style and the music. Enjoy it!

HUGH

This is a very nice short film that takes you into the fascinating world of the ancient Apaches, where an old shaman is telling a story to 3 young children.
Ages ago, the human beings had big troubles because the sky was too low, therefore the birds could not fly , the tree could not grow, and men were bended. One day, a group of small children decided to change things and attempted to raise the sky with stocks......

Based on an Apache Legend Hugh has been done by 4 students from french school ESMA (ESMA École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques)

Mount Head - Atama Yama (2002)

A miserly man eats the pits of some cherries he can't stand throwing out. A tree starts growing from the top of his head. He cuts it off; it grows back. After a while, he gives up and lets it grow, but the crowds that gather on top of his head to enjoy the tree (and leave huge mounds of trash) eventually drive him to uproot the tree. This leaves a crater on top of his head, which fills with water, which becomes a popular lake.

"Mount Head" was nominated for the Oscar Award in 2003 (Best short film section), won the Annecy Cristal (2003), the Grand Prix at Hiroshima International Animation Festival (2004) and the Grand Prize at Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films.

Directed by Koji Yamamura.
Narration, Shamisen play - Takeharu Kunimoto.
